Dr. Edward J. Gotgart

Ed Gotgart has over 30 years of experience in education, holding positions from classroom teacher to school district Superintendent. He has served in leadership positions for public, charter, Catholic and independent schools and has created programs and curriculum for Choate-Rosemary Hall School (CT), St. Mark’s School (MA), and St. Dominic Savio Preparatory High School in Boston. A graduate of Harvard College (1968), Ed also has an M.A in Urban Studies (Yale, 1969), an Ed.M. (Harvard, 1975), and his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership (B.U., 1989).
In 1997, Ed was recruited by B.U. to found, create, and head the nation’s first residential charter school for at-risk children. He also headed the only dual language charter school in Massachusetts. From 2001 to 2005 he was the Assistant Executive Director of the New England School Development Council (“NESDEC”), responsible for and working with 360 school districts throughout New England in leadership recruitment and professional development, school planning and management. He has been an officer of the Massachusetts Association of School Business Officials (“MASBO”) and was awarded professional distinction by the National Association of School Business Officials as a Registered School Business Administrator.
